_the program
A 500 seat concert hall, club and event spaces for the Academy, rehearsal and dressing rooms and an attached music store. The tripartite parti uses the lobby and the theatre as the spaces in which the performers and audience interact. In the lobby, the program is inverted, as the green room looks across at the stairs, which then become both stage and circulation. From the upper lobby, the audience engages the performers across the no-man's-land of the triple height space lobby below. In the hall itself, the rigid edge of the parti is broken as both audience and performer spaces slide into the no-man's-land, creating a moment of convergence and shared experience.
